| Bob's Clam Hut |
|
Bob's Clam Hut has been around since 1956. In that time, Bob's has become legendary for serving the best fried clams (scallops, haddock, shrimp, lobster rolls, chowder...) anywhere. Our daily menu includes Lobster Rolls, Fresh Fried Seafood, and Burgers along with a selection of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream to top of your meal. We have received validation for our quality food in the press - Yankee Magazine made us an Editor's Pick as a reason to come to Maine, and Forbes Magazine selected us as one of their forty favorite restaurants in the United States! That's high praise to live up to! We try. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries (we're too small to store more than that anyway) - and we use "specials" which are hand selected clams for consistent size and quality.
Of course quality ingredients are one important element, you've still got to be able to cook. Our staff uses the same "cook-to-order" system that Bob and his family developed. They are dedicated, talented and pride themselves in high customer satisfaction ratings. Bob's strives for family atmosphere where people matter. Forbes called Bob's a "seaside, roadside Nirvana". We think of it as a "Corny Little Clam Hut by the Side of the Road", where we are fanatical about quality seafood, and have been that way for a long time. Tuesdays are Senior Appreciation Days at Bob's. Come in and get 15% off of your total meal. (Must be 60 years or older). |
| Castaway's Boathouse | Castaway's Boathouse |
Randy Kilty opened Castaway’s Boat House in 2005 with the goal of creating a special vacation-like oasis not far from downtown Dover. Perched over the Cocheco River at George’s Marina and just a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of downtown, Castaway’s offers unsurpassed views and an ambiance that is truly unique to the area. There are many distinctive dining experiences to choose from when visiting Castaway’s. The Boat House (open year-round) offers an intimate casual dining atmosphere. In-season guests can also dine on the outdoor wrap-around deck, in the enclosed patio dining area, or at the waterside Tiki bar. An added feature for boaters is free docking from May through October. "We’re dedicated to providing a unique dining experience to our valued customers. Good food and drink, entertainment and service are part of the formula, but it is the location that provides the magic," states Kilty. Featuring a well rounded menu to please sea and land lovers alike, Castaway’s offers a mixture of fresh seafood (grilled to perfection or fried) and a variety of steak and chicken dishes. Castaway’s “favorites” include their succulent mussels (served in a lemon white wine and garlic sauce), the Seafood Fra Diablo (scallops, tiger shrimp and mussels sautéed in spicy red sauce and tossed with cherry, red, green and jalapeno peppers), and an extensive selection of their legendary half pound black angus burgers. Being sensitive to the tough economic times Castaway’s offers great money-saving specials such as "burger night" every Tuesday (featuring a half pound angus burger with fries for only $4.95) and pasta night on Wednesdays (with homemade meat sauce and garlic bread for $4.95). Castaway’s has also recently been named the exclusive caterer for Sunningdale Golf Club for those seeking banquet facilities. If you have not yet had the pleasure of experiencing this hidden gem we assure you that any first-timer is sure to be pleasantly surprised that such a place exists just seconds from Central Avenue. |
