MoJo’s offers an authentic southern style BBQ in a contemporary BBQ shack and has all the right ingredients. It all starts with Mo Jo’s famous Arkansawce, a recipe that his father Earl Buckley created in 1954 and that he continues to make for people all over the country. Add to that their succulent, mouthwatering, fall of the bone ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and beef brisket and sides of their homemade dirty rice, BBQ beans, coleslaw or mac n’ cheese and you have a barbecue feast that will please any hunger. MoJo’s BBQ Shack offers a comfortable dine-in atmosphere with great new plasma televisions. They serve beer and wine and your favorite non-alcohol beverage. You can also choose to take-out or book a BBQ party of your own from small back yard get-togethers to corporate events and weddings; MoJo’s BBQ Shack catering does it all!

A word from owners Aaron Jones and Big Moe:

"MoJo's BBQ is a neighborhood kind of place that cooks up Barbeque good enough to make it a destination.

MoJo's was created by two regular guys who happened to be passionate about food in general & BBQ in particular...

We believe BBQ is at its best when all of its powerful flavors combine and harmonize. The natural flavors of the meat, the spiciness of the rub, the sweetness of the sauce. When these elements are in a balance, you have found BBQ Heaven...

We have worked hard to match the right cut of meat with the right rub, sauce and cooking technique. Our propietary sauce and rubs are lovingly crafted from scratch in our own kitchen. The same goes for our sides...It's a bit more work to do it this way, but we believe the results are well worth it...

Welcome & Enjoy!"

Old FerryIf you’re looking for the "front row seats" in deck dining you cannot beat those at the Old Ferry Landing. Perched over the Piscataqua River with unsurpassed views of Portsmouth Harbor and its famous tug boats; at the Old Ferry Landing you are as close to the water as you can get without getting wet. Featuring New England style seafood in a casual atmosphere, the Old Ferry Landing is a favorite among the locals and tourist alike. Menu items include many “Ferry Favorites” such as the Lobster Feast (a true lobster in the rough with boiled lobster, mussels and corn on the cob), Seafood Platter (with fresh scallops, clams, shrimp, and haddock served with fries and slaw), and an assortment of tasty seafood baskets. They also offer items for non-seafood lovers such as grilled vegetable kabobs, grilled chicken Caesar salad and great burgers.

Along with soaking in the views, you can also soak up some local history while dining at the Old Ferry Landing. The building was originally erected as a ferryboat terminal providing transportation across the Piscataqua River between Portsmouth and Kittery prior to the construction of bridges. The large wooden beams supporting the roof at the Old Ferry Landing are the original beams and deserve attention as they represent the building methods of the 19th Century.

The River House has all the right ingredients for being Portsmouth’s new local favorite eatery. With a fantastic menu, a fresh new atmosphere and the best views of the Piscataqua, the River House is a great spot to gather with family and friends.

Chef Gerry Walsh has created an incredible, diverse menu featuring a mixture of New England favorites, some southern inspirations and unique international dishes that are sure to please any palate.

The River House RestaurantFor starters Chef Walsh recommend trying the award winning seafood chowder; a hearty, rich, creamy clam stock brimming with lobster, scallops, shrimp, clams, and haddock. Or start off with the mixed grille sampler with Coca-Cola BBQ pulled pork, Caribbean jerk jumbo chicken tenderloins, andouille sausage, and Caribbean prawn sticks. For entrées he suggests the house made black bean veggie burger, the fresh Atlantic salmon, or the Guinness short ribs with death by butter potatoes (slow braised, totally tender and lean short ribs nestled against double-buttered mashed potatoes and finished with root vegetables in Guinness gravy). You’ll find their famous Coca-Cola Sauce is used throughout the menu which has received rave reviews for being "surprisingly delicious, with a nice zing to it." Make sure you save room for "Ellen’s Award Winning Hot Apple Pie a la Mode". This is an individualized crock of the "Best Apple Pie 2009, Portsmouth Rotary"; served hot, and topped with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. Along with a well-rounded menu Chef Walsh prepares daily house specialties which can all be paired with a special brew from the extensive beer selection. The River House also features a fabulous Sunday Brunch from 10am to 2pm.

The River House (former location of the Stockpot) received a complete renovation this Spring. With fresh paint, a brand new kitchen and a clean, bright atmosphere along with unsurpassed views of the Piscataqua, you’re apt to want to spend the day. Visitors have a choice of several dining venues at the River House from the cozy street level bar, the downstairs Whaleback Tavern with new bar or one of the two popular, hip water front decks.
